Chongqing Sichuan Opera Fans Association (CSOFA)
The Chongqing Sichuan Opera Fans Association (CSOFA) was founded in 2003 with the aim of unifying Sichuan Opera fans and introducing it to a larger audience. It currently has over 200 registered members, and its members cover a huge age gap from 46 to 87 and come from more than 20 cities and towns in Chongqing surroundings. CSOFA organizes and invites its registered member to see Sichuan Opera for free once every two weeks and hosts weekly gatherings every Wednesday at Shaba District Cultural Palace.
Sichuan Fine Arts Institute
(SFAI)
Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, established in 1940, is one of the four most prominent art academies in China and the only one in southwest China. The institute enjoys prestige domestically and internationally. The artwork has contributed to contemporary Chinese art. Since the 1990s, many teachers and students have won national and international awards. Artists from SFAI have exhibited their art internationally. The university's philosophy is "close to life, to serve the people; knowledge as equally important, new incentives; open-minded and keeping up with the times".
Lingjiang Book-Reading Theatre
Lingjiang Book-Reading Theatre is a traditional theatre at the Jialing Riverside. For 500 years, it has served as a stage for public Sichuan operas, historytellings, Crosstalk performances, and instrument performances. It is also a great place for daily tea drinking, conversations, and relaxation. It holds regular shows every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday; Visiting performances have varied schedules. Its inclusiveness has thorned it as a popular gathering place for local elders.
